Do you want to learn about the latest communication style availabe? One that leaves all the choices in your hands and helps to have constructive conversations with others. Join a three day workshop series in Magdeburg, November 1 to 3.


What's it about?

Learning from the master! Professor Joe Folger (one of the founding fathers of Transformative Mediation) from Philadelphia in the U.S. is coming here. This training program provides participants with an understanding of the core purpose and foundational principles of transformative intervention practice. Exploring the goals and effects of transformative mediation, this training provides an opportunity to learn and practice the core transformative intervention skills. In addition you can learn how to resopond to conflict more effectively. The workshop will be held in English with translation into German. Through lecture, discussion, demonstrations, and skill building exercises, this training program grounds participants in an approach to mediation practice that is rooted in the assumption that conflict is a crisis in human interaction. Come and join even for single days. If you haven't been to Magdeburg yet, now it's the time to come!

Wednesday 11/01/2017 from 10 pm to 5 pm

Day 1 - Understanding of the core purpose and foundational principles of transformative practice. Explore the goals and effects of transformative intervention in demonstrations and exercises. 


Thursday 11/02/2017 from 10 pm to 5 pm

Day 2 - Practice core transformative intervention skills . Deepen an understanding of how these skills are linked to transformative intervention goals of party empowerment and recognition.  Through lecture, discussion, video illustrations, and skill building exercises, this workshop program grounds participants in an approach to mediation practice.

Friday 11/03/2017 from 10 pm to 5 pm

Day 3 - Responding Effectively to Conflict. Learn how to manage conflicts in personal, workplace, business and family situations. Based on the transformative theories strategies are presented to support people in turning the negative and destructive cycle of conflict interaction into a more productive and constructive communication.  The emphasis in this training is on learning how to respond with greater self-awareness by balancing regard for self and other, rather than reacting in the moment in ways that turns conflict into crises.


Where it takes place:

The training will take place in siutable rooms in the cathedral of Magdeburg, Germany. The address is Am Dom 1, 39104 Magdeburg. For accomondation we recommend the Motel-One on the cathedral square, nearby.

Number of participants:

The number of participats is limited to provid an interactive participation.

Gerneral Information about TM:

Transformative Mediation (TM) is an approach to conflict intervention that is used in a wide range of conflict intervention settings.  It is based on the relational view of conflict outlined in the book "The Promise of Mediation" by Robert A. Baruch Bush and Joseph P. Folger (Jossey-Bass, 2005). Transformative mediation has been used in family, civil, neighbor, divorce, youth, and multi-party disputes and has been adapted for conflict interventions that address team development and organizational disputes.
